The El Campo Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture is accepting nominations for the 2017 Citizen of the Year. The Citizen of the Year is a lifetime achievement award. The deadline for nominations is Friday, Dec. 29. Nomination letters can be delivered to the Chamber Office at 01 N. Mechanic or by mail to P.O. Box 1400 El Campo, TX 77437. Church, Businesses Collecting Toys For Children

Be the Light is teaming up with New Life Assembly of God and local businesses to collect toys this holiday season. Toys will be dispersed with the help of our local schools. Donations can be dropped off at any one of the following locations Monday - Friday: Revolution Fitness, 903 S. Mechanic from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Ai United, 121 W. Jackson St. from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Danes Country Store, 11433 Hwy 71 South from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., Comet Cleaners, 1703 N. Knights of Columbus Hosts Blood Drive

Knights of Columbus Council 2490 will sponsor a Community Blood Drive on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at the Columbus Club on Armory Road (1458 CR 406) from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. This is the last blood drive for 2017. One pint of blood will save three lives. All donors will receive a meal and t-shirt.


Santa Is Coming To Garwood

Garwood Veterans Memorial Library is having a Christmas Open House Thursday, Dec. 21 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Santa will visit from 4:30 - 7 p.m. Everyone is invited. There will be refreshments, coffee and wassail. Bring a camera if you would like to take photos.

Lutheran Church To Host Christmas Program

Danevang Lutheran Church, 1401 Ave. I, Christmas program will be Saturday, Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. at the church in Danevang. A visit with Santa and refreshments will be held in the church hall following the program.


St. Paul UMC Having Candlelight Service

St. Paul United Methodist Church will have a Christmas Eve Candlelight service at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 24. All are welcome to attend. There will be traditional Christmas carols, guitar music, a retelling of the story of the first Christmas and candles. The church is located at 211 E. Third in El Campo (on the corner of Third and August).

FUMC Announces Christmas Eve Services

First United Methodist Church El Campo, 1001 Ave. I, will hold its Christmas Eve worship in the chapel at 8:30 a.m. and in the sanctuary at 10:45 a.m. A family worship service will be that afternoon at 4:30 p.m. followed later with a candlelight worship at 6 p.m.

Christ Lutheran Celebrates Christmas

The congregation of Christ Lutheran will hold services on Christmas Eve at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Special Services Set For Faith Lutheran

Faith Lutheran, 2103 N. Mechanic, will have their regular Sunday morning service at 9 a.m. and a candlelight Christmas Eve service that day at 7 p.m. They will also have a Christmas Day service, Dec. 25 at 9 a.m.

Manna Meals Offers Food, Fellowship

TOPS Meeting On Weekly Basis

TOPS Club, Inc. (Take Pounds Off Sensibly) will have a weekly chapter meeting from 9 - 10 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Northside Education Center, Room 105. Meetings focus on nutrition, exercise, motivation and wellness education. Those who are interested are welcome to attend.

Bulletin Board is a community service to promote one-time events for nonprofit organizations. The Leader-News requests only one representative submit items with contact information. Items will be edited. Event submissions will run no more than four editions immediately prior to the event as space permits. Garage sale fundraisers, church auctions (not part of a larger event) and raffles do not qualify. All items submitted must arrive no later than 3 p.m. Mondays for the Wednesday edition and 3 p.m. Thursdays for the Saturday edition.
