Nominations Being Accepted

The El Campo Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture is accepting nominations for the 2017 Citizen of the Year. The Citizen of the Year is a lifetime achievement award. The deadline for nominations is Friday, Dec. 29. Nomination letters can be delivered to the Chamber Office at 01 N. Mechanic or by mail to P.O. Box 1400 El Campo, TX 77437. Nominations can also be emailed to ecc@elcampochamber.com. If you have submitted a candidate in the past that was not selected, please resubmit or call the Chamber to update candidate information to be reconsidered. Christmas Light Show

The annual Christmas Light Show and it’s synchronized music will be at 671 County Road 306 (Murray Road - just before the V.F.W. Hall) from 6 - 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 6 - 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tune your radio to FM 95.3 to enjoy the music in your radio. The show will run through January 1, 2018.

Knights of Columbus Annual Raffle

The Knights of Columbus Council 2490 will host their Annual Sportsman Raffle and Stew Supper on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at the Columbus Clue on Armory Rd. The door will open at 6 p.m. and the stew will be served at 7 p.m. Admission is the purchase of a drawing ticket. A second chance drawing will also be held. El Campo Library Customer Appreciation

The El Campo Branch of the Wharton County Library will be holding its annual Christmas Open House Customer Appreciation on Thursday, Dec. 14, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The library staff invites all patrons to stop by and enjoy a cup of punch and light refreshments throughout the day. The staff also invites patrons to wish Aileen Terry, Branch Manager for the past 20 years, a happy retirement. Terry, will be retiring, effective Dec. 31st.

Bulletin Board is a community service to promote one-time events for nonprofit organizations. The Leader-News requests only one representative submit items with contact information. Items will be edited. Event submissions will run no more than four editions immediately prior to the event as space permits. Garage sale fundraisers, church auctions (not part of a larger event) and raffles do not qualify. All items submitted must arrive no later than 3 p.m. Mondays for the Wednesday edition and 3 p.m. Thursdays for the Saturday edition.
