Free Legal Advice Available
Lone Star Legal Aid is providing free legal assistance to low income families and individuals, 9:30 -11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 7 at the Wharton County Library, 1920 N. Fulton in Wharton. Lone Star Legal Aid helps with wills and estate planning, probate, divorce, housing issues, foreclosure, evictions, food stamps, medicaid and Medicare, Social Security benefits and more.

Art Show Entries Due
Entries for the 60th Annual Open Art Show will be accepted Friday, June 8, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the El Campo Civic Center. Children and adults can enter art, photography and craft items. Kids Chill With A Cop
Coffee with a Cop is getting a “cool” change for the summer months. Kids Chill with a Cop, 2 - 4 p.m., Tuesday, June 12 at Alamo Park, will give children and adults the opportunity to meet members of the El Campo Police Department, EMS, Wharton County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety (Highway Patrol); Texas Game Wardens and staff. Freedom Fest Features Parade, Contests
The Wharton County Love Everyone Freedom Festival 2018 will be a two-day event. Friday will be a talent contest at the El Campo High School Auditorium. Ag Commissioner Speaking At Chamber Event
El Campo Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture is hosting a chamber luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 15 at Prasek’s Conference Center. The featured speaker is Sid Miller, Texas Agriculture Commissioner. Tickets are $25 for chamber members and $30 for potential members. Seating is limited, tickets must be purchased in advance. LISD Taking Applications Being Taken
For Pre-K, Kindergarten Students
Parents can register their children for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten for Louise Elementary’s 2018-19 school year. Must bring child’s social security card, certified birth certificate and up-to-date immunization records. If registering for Pre-K, the district must have proof of income to determine federal reimbursement, but the student can be accepted regardless of income. Pre-K is open to all students, including transfers with no fees or tuition required. Students turning four years old on or before Sept. 1, 2018 will be eligible for Pre-K. Students turning five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2018 will be eligible for Kindergarten. For questions, call the elementary office at 648-2982, ext. 202.

Museum Has Twilight Tuesdays

Heritage Center Offers Exercise, Bingo
The Heritage Center, a non-profit organization at 803 Fahrenthold with a $50 membership fee, is open to men and women 50 and older. The center, open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., offers use of exercise machines, chair exercise sessions, pool table, dominoes, lending library, lap top computers, games, bingo and opportunities to volunteer. Covered dish luncheons are held once a month.

Wharton County Veteran’s service officer hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday in Wharton from 8 - 11:30 a.m. and noon - 4:30 p.m. 11:30 a.m. - noon is lunch time. Wednesday will be at the El Campo Library, 200 W. Manna Meals Offers Food Monday, Thursday

Bulletin Board is a community service to promote one-time events for nonprofits. The Leader-News requests only one representative submit items with contact information. Items will be edited.
