Tax Office Closing Early Next Friday
The El Campo and Wharton branches of the Wharton County Tax Office will close at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19. Staff will be undergoing training, according to Tax Assessor-Collector Patrick Kubala. Both offices will re-open for regular hours Monday, Jan. 22.
Food Donations Sought
H&R Block and Helping Hands is accepting food and other donations at the business office through midApril. Helping Hands will later distribute items as needed.

St. Philip Hosts Youth Dinner
St. Philip Catholic School youth fried chicken dinner and drawing will be Sunday, Jan 14 at the Columbus Club Hall beginning at 11 a.m. Plates are to go only. There is a donation of $10 per plate. The 100 Club of Wharton County, Inc. will host its Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, Jan. 18, at the El Campo Civic Center. ECMH Hosts Lab Screening
ECMH will have a cholesterol/triglyceride & glucose screening Thursday, Jan. 18. Prices are $5, $10 or $15 depending on which test you take. It is recommended that you do not eat or drink for 12 hours before testing. Register in the ECMH front lobby on Thursday, Jan. 18 or call 578-5185 to make an appointment.
