Forms Available For February Edition

The El Campo Leader-News will feature Sweethearts for Beta Sigma Phi sororities, Catholic Daughters, El Campo VFD and Auxiliary and the Pilot Club in a February issue. The form is available at our office or can be emailed by calling 543-3363. Forms and a color 4x6 or larger photo must be in our office by Monday, Feb. 5.

Knights Of Columbus Hosts

Youth Free Throw Championship

All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 (as of Jan. 1), are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 2018 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. The competition will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26 in the St. Philip Catholic School gymnasium. For more information, contact Stan Labay at 543-1911.

Sign Up For The First Annual

Scholarship Basketball Tournament

The first annual scholarship basketball tournament will be held Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Willie Bell Park in memory of DeAndre Bluntson. The entry fee for a team of seven, ages 18 and up, is $100 and due by Feb. 1. The entry fee for ages 12-14 and 15-17 is $50 per team and also due by Feb. 1. Contact Christie Edison at 332-1054.

Manna Meals Offers Food, Fellowship

Manna Meals is offered at no cost every Monday and Thursday from 5 - 6:30 p.m. All are welcome. Meals are prepared then served by local congregations at 500 Foerster (between Fourth and Fifth Streets in El Campo). TOPS Meeting On Weekly Basis

TOPS Club, Inc. (Take Pounds Off Sensibly) will have a weekly chapter meeting from 9 - 10 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Northside Education Center, Room 105. Meetings focus on nutrition, exercise, motivation and wellness education.

Heritage Center Offers Exercise, Bingo

The Heritage Center, a non-profit organization with a $50 membership fee, is open to men and women 50 and older. The center, open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., offers use of an assortment of exercise machines, “Silver Sneakers” chair exercise sessions for those 63 years and older, pool table, dominoes, lending library, lap top computers, games, bingo and opportunities to volunteer along with chances to visit with friends. Covered dish luncheons are held once a month. The center is located at 803 Fahrenthold.

Pilgrim Rest Distributes Commodities

Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church Labor of Love distributes commodities at 7 a.m. the first Thursday of each month. For more information, call 541-7493.

Local Library Offers Free Programs

The El Campo Branch Library, 200 W. Church, is open six days a week: Monday from 9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Some of the programs include story time for children ages 3-5 at 10:15 a.m. each Tuesday and toddler time for those ages 6 months to age 3 at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesdays. Free Services Offered

The Mainstream Connection, a 501 c3 organization offers help with pantry assistance, counseling, immigration cases, waivers, translations, evaluations, reference letters, extreme and unusual hardship letters, residency applications/renewals, citizenship applications, notary services and DACA applications/renewals.
