EL CAMPO MEMORIAL
HOSPITAL CHARITY CARE
PROGRAM PUBLIC NOTICE
El Campo Memorial Hospital,
as a public entity, is required by
the State of Texas to notify local
citizens of their charity care policy.
Under our charity care policy, we
provide a reasonable volume of
services without charge or at a
reduced charge to persons considered
financially or medically
indigent. For the 2007 reporting
period, we reported $969,209 of
charges forgone under our charity
care program. Bad Debt is a separate
amount and is not included in
the amount reported above.
Under our policy, medically necessary
services of the hospital
will be made available to all
eligible persons without regard
to age, sex, race, creed, color, or
national origin who request such
services. Eligibility for care, either
free of charges or at reduced
charges, is based on family size
and annual household income.
This information is compared to
both the current poverty levels as
established by the Department of
Health and Human Services and
to medical bills. Persons whose
annual income are at or lower
than 100 % of the poverty level
will qualify for free services, while
higher incomes may be available
for reduced rates. Additionally,
persons whose medical bills after
payment by third-party payers exceed
15% of annual income and
who demonstrate inability to pay
may qualify for free or discounted
services.
We reserve the right to limit charity
care on a monthly or annual
basis consistent with our available
resources. Current applications
and additional information concerning
our charity care program
can be obtained by contacting:
