The cast and crew of the El Campo High School UIL One Act play, “Shakespeare in Hollywood” written by Ken Ludwig, have had a fantastic start to the competitive play season, according to director Katrese Skinner.
El Campo competed in the District 25 AAAA One Act Play contest held at Royal High School on March 5. Not only was El Campo chosen by a panel of judges to advance to Bi-District competition, but they also took home some individual awards. Junior Annastasia Hobbins received All Star Crew; Kayla Bolfing, a sophomore, received Honorable Mention All Star Cast; Manna Trevino, a sophomore, was named All Star Cast as well as senior Cole Skinner.
They advanced to Bi-District contest on Tuesday, March 19 where they advanced on to the Area 1 Region IV competition.
Students earning awards were Ishamel Brito, sophomore, All Star Crew; Austin Viktorin, sophomore, Honorable Mention All Star Cast; Riley Respondek, sophomore, Honorable Mention All Star Cast; Ryan Michael Garcia, junior, All Star Cast and Cole Skinner, senior, All Star Cast.
El Campo also competed Monday, April 1 at Canyon High School in New Braunfels, however will not be advancing from this competition. They received several honors, including a rating of excellence from the judges. All Star Tech went to freshman Hali Hobbins. Sophomores Riley Respondek and Austin Viktorin were named Honorable Mention All Star Cast and senior Cole Skinner was named All Star Cast.
The award-winning cast and crew will give a public performance of the production at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11 in the ECHS Auditorium. The show is appropriate for all ages. The auditorium will open at 6:30 p.m. for seating.
