IMUD to set 2008 budget, tax rate
By BRENDA SOMMER news1@leader-news.com

The IMUD board will make the coming year's budget and tax rate official, and discuss two new streetlights when directors meet tomorrow.

For the coming year, the Isaacson Municipal Utility District board is proposing a tax rate of .83254 cents per $100 - a .002 cent drop from the prior year - to cover a total budget of $134,229, up $2,746 from last year.

IMUD property values rose by $342,043 this year to $6,253,709 from last year's total valuation of $5,911,666.

Last year the board chose a rate of .83426 per $100 in valuation, a drop from the 2005 tax rate of $0.86426 per $100.

Because the total value of properties in the utility district rose by $75,000 in 2006 from the previous year, the lower tax rate brought in enough income to cover the $131,483 budget.

The only other new business on the board's agenda involve discussing and taking action on installing two streetlights: one at East Calhoun and Ellwood streets, and one on Garcia Street.

The Isaacson Municipal Utility District serves around 190 customers just outside the northeastern city limits of El Campo, providing water, sewer and garbage collection services.

IMUD's Board of Directors will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 at the district's office at 403 N. Liberty. The meeting is open to the public.
