Pool board to discuss fees, added programs

Recommended changes to El Campo Aquatic Center fees, and added programs, will be discussed today at 5:15 p.m. by the appointed Aquatic Center Board.

City staff has proposed several rate changes for programs offered and memberships.

Some members of City Council are concerned with the gap between revenue produced at the year-around aquatic facility and the amount of revenue coming in to offset those expenses, thus a recommended increase in all rate categories.

The Aquatic Center Board does not set rates. Rather, it recommends rates and other facility policies to the city manager, who submits them to City Council for action. Only City Council can set rates.

It is projected any new rates could become effective Oct. 1, the beginning of the city's fiscal year.

The public meeting is scheduled for City Hall in Council Chambers at 5:15 p.m.
