Gladys Cerny and Barbara Ann Socha (l-r) look over the details and registration form for the event, which takes place Saturday, Sept. 22 from the El Campo Civic Center parking lot, through town and back for a post race party, prizes and awards. Early registration and fees are being taken by this Friday at the Museum and other locations around town.
Registration is taking place now for those interested in laboring a little to raise funds for the Museum. The idea was a brainstorm of Museum board members Abby Goerig and Sandie Rod.

Entry fees, $20 each or $17 for members, are due Friday. Late registration at $25 each will be held up to the day of the event. All children and strollers are free.

In addition to the 5K run, there will be a 1/2 mile run/walk for the children. Registration is $10 by Friday for non-members and $7 for members. Late registration is $12. This event is for children ages 12 and younger.

The route for the 5K run/walk will begin in the parking lot of the El Campo Civic Center and meander through the city and back to the starting point with water breaks in-between. The Boy Scouts will have a rest stop set up along the route.

Check-in on race day will be held from 7:30-8:50 a.m.Following the run, a post race party will be held in the Civic Center patio area where prizes and awards will be presented.

A bounce house provided by Rioux Hardware will be available for children's' fun, as well as face painting, pizza and drinks. Awards will be given for top finishers in each age group, male and female and a catered lunch at a later date for the group of organization with the most participants.

As of last week, McGuirk had received 15 entries and is expecting more.

All participants will receive a T-shirt and admission into the post race party. Non-race participant admission to the party is $2.

Registration forms are available at the Museum, Lack's Furniture store, Texas Financial and Insurance, Gulf Coast Medical Clinic and Commercial State Bank.
