AREA FUNERAL NOTICES Allen Dusek Allen Eugene Dusek, 65, of Livingston, formerly of El Campo, died unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 in Lake City, Colo. He was born July 24, 1942 in Wharton County to Charles and Annie Rose Triska Dusek. Mr. Dusek graduated from St. John Seminary High School in San Antonio before attending Assumption Seminary and the University of St. Thomas. He graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1965. Mr. Dusek was a teacher and coach for El Campo ISD in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1968. He returned to teach and coach in El Campo until 1969. Mr. Dusek then worked in the Humble ISD as teacher, coach and in administration. He earned his master's degree from Sam Houston State during this time. He was superintendent of Tidehaven ISD from 1984-1997. After retirement in 1997, he and Darlyn lived in Blessing until 2000 when they moved to Lake Livingston. In 2003 they began spending summers in Lake City, Colo. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Darlyn Dusek of Livingston; sons, William Kohler and wife Donna of Humble and Chuck Kohler and wife Kerri of Humble; daughter, Christina "Tina" Fuller and husband Glenn of Spring; grandchildren, Dori and Alex Kohler, Shelbi and Mason Kohler and Jackie, Jeremy, Joey, Jacob, Colby and Anya Fuller. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Eugene Dusek. A rosary service will be Thursday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at Triska Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer's Association. Vernon Jaks Vernon E. Jaks, 82, of El Campo, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007. He was born on Oct. 4, 1924 in Gonzales to Edward and Mary Glomb Jaks. He was a retired Merchant Seaman and a World War II Army veteran, where he received a Purple Heart. Survivors include his sister, Sidonia Hradecky; brother, Elliot Jaks, all of El Campo; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mildred Ferrell, Agnes Matera and Magdalen Davis; brothers, Rudolph and Edward Jaks, Jr. Visitation will begin on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. at Triska Funeral Home. A parish rosary will be recited Friday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Triska Funeral Home. | |||||
