Hornets more ready than ever for Ganado

      The Hornets are about to take part in their biggest rivalry game of the year. Louise remembers last year's match with Ganado well. After a 2-0 start to the year, Louise hosted the Indians in Week 3 and topped the Hornets 8-6.

Giddings can't come close to Lady 'Birds

      The Lady 'Birds hosted Giddings Friday and came out with a nice 3-0 win as they approach the opening of district volleyball competition. Giddings was clearly outmatched during the entire event as the Lady Birds cruised to a three-game sweep.

      It appears an injured Ricebird may rejoin the team soon on the football field. S e - nior Tyler Woods, a lineb acker, quarterback and kicker for the 'Birds, exited El Campo's game against Angleton Friday in the third quarter.

L-N FOOTBALL CONTEST WEEK 2
      Week 2 of the Leader-News Football Contest was a tricky one. Several entries missed the mark as it was filled with a few upset games. Several people missed on the Michigan-Oregon and Georgia- South Carolina games this week causing many marked up entries when everything was tallied.

Freshmen split in series with Angleton
      El Campo's Freshman Red and White teams took on a tough Angleton squad and had split outcomes. The Red team topped the Wildcats 12-0 while the White team fell 24-6. Freshman Red Team Neither team scored until late in the third quarter, when El Campo broke the 0- 0 tie to take the lead.

ECMS FOOTBALL REPORT
      It was almost a clean sweep for El Campo Middle School to start the football season last week. The Ricebirds took on Bay City in the first game of the year and three out of four teams came away with opening-week wins.
