Golf still going for EC grads

Two El Campo graduates competed in the John Mohmann Memorial Tournament Monday and Tuesday in Seguin.

Derek Treybig, on the University of Texas at Dallas team, and Travis Johnson, on the University of Texas at Tyler golf team, both graduated from El Campo this past fall.

Texas Lutheran University, the host of the tournament, won the event while UT Tyler clamed third and UT Dallas took eighth out of 13 total teams.

Individually, both Johnson and Treybig had good outings against 85 total golfers.

Johnson finished ninth overall after shooting one under par with scores of 72, 70 and 73 for a 215 stroke total.

Treybig finished 74th with scores of 77, 79 and 86 for a 242 stroke total in the event.
