IMUD drops its tax levy, earning more
By BRENDA SOMMER news1@leader-news.com

The new budget and tax rate are now official for the Isaacson Municipal Utility District after no objections from residents.

The IMUD board adopted both proposals Thursday.

For the coming fiscal year, the IMUD's tax rate is .83254 cents per $100 - a .002 cent drop from the prior year - to cover a total budget of $134,229, up $2,746 from last year.

IMUD property values rose by $342,043 this year to $6,253,709 from last year's total valuation of $5,911,666.

The only other new business on the board's agenda was deciding to install two streetlights: one at East Calhoun and Ellwood streets, and one on Garcia Street.

The Garcia Street light will be installed through Central Power and Light, while the Wharton County Electric Cooperative will install the other. IMUD's board has pushed hard in the last two years to install more street lights in the community.
