Food & fun planned for St. Philip's parish picnic

Plans are set for the St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church's parish picnic again. Set for Sunday, Sept. 30, the entire community is invited to attend. There will be plenty of food, games and entertainment for young and old alike.

Holy Mass will be celebrated at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29; and at 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30.

New this year is the 'Jousting Ring' and 'Bungee Trampoline.' A moonwalk, 52' inflatable obstacle course and a fire truck slide will also be available for children to enjoy.

To start off the day, come dance to the tunes of the Dujka Brothers. They will be playing from 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m. Next will be Texas Sound Czech from noon until 2 p.m. and again from 4-6 p.m. in the parish hall.

The all-day festival will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall located on Armory Road, just off south Highway 71, and will feature a primecut beef barbecue and sausage dinner with side dishes. Serving begins at 11 a.m. and meal tickets are $7 each. You may dine in comfort in the air-conditioned KC Hall, or have plates to go in a convenient drive-through line.

Barbecue-on-bun and sausage-on-astick, hamburgers and sweets will be available after 2 p.m. Bulk meats will be sold at the pit.

Other activities include a huge country auction beginning at 1 p.m., bingo, Second Time Around booth, country store, cake wheel, fish pond and a variety of other activities, including rides for the children.
