Doug Stone's CD 'My Turn' in record stores now

NASHVILLE - Country recording artist Doug Stone hit the music scene in 1990 and was an instant success with "I'd Be Better Off In A Pinebox."
Seventeen years later, a dozen hit singles and millions of album sales later, Stone is back on the scene again.
Stone brings his style of country music to Greek Bros. Saloon in El Campo Saturday night.
"The people gave me my dream come true," said Stone in a phone interview from Nashville earlier in the week.
"I've called it a vacation since 1987.
"It kind of flew past me like a bolt of lighting. "When you're on the road, you lose track of days and years. It's really funny how the road does."
And Stone is happy to get back on the road.
"Things are going great for us," said Stone
'I'm hearing people saying that they are glad to hear you back and we love what you're doing."
His new CD "My Turn" hit the record stores on Tuesday.
"It's the first time that I ever got to do exactly what I wanted to do," said Stone referring to the title.
"I'm getting tons of response from it and I hope people are going to buy it.
It's on his own label and he wrote and produced 11 songs which were over 17 years in the making. "This projected started in 2005.
"These are song that's I've always wanted to do," said Stone.
"It's been a slow process but it's been a lot of fun doing it."
"Nice Problem", one of the cuts," is already getting air play on radios stations around the country.
'It's the most positive thing that I've had happen to me in the last 10 years," said Stone.
"Having my own record label is also a dream come true," said Stone. I hope that I can get artists on there."
Stone has overcome several trials and tribulations and adversities in his career.
He crashed a motorcycle, two trucks and a airplane. He also had a stroke, heart attack and by pass surgery.
And Stone loves playing in Texas.
"I'm a Texas honorary," joked Stone. 'I love the people and we always have a great time.
They always show up for the show and I think that I've sold half of my records in Texas alone."
Stone was born in Marietta Ga. has had eight No. 1 hits and eight in the top five charts.
His early hits included "I'd Be Better Off In A Pinebox," "These Lips Don't Know How To Say Good-bye," "In A Different Light," which hit No. 1 in 1991.
Others included "I Thought It Was You," "A Jukebox With A Country Song," "Warning Labels,' "Made For Lovin' You," "Too Busy For Being In Love,' "Why Didn't I Think Of That," "More Love," "Little Houses," " Faith in Me, Faith In Your," " Sometimes I Forget," "Addicted To A Dollar," "Born In The Dark,' "Gone Out Of My Mind," " Make Up In Love and "Take A Letter Maria." .
Stone loves the whole aspect of the business. He doesn't label himself as just country.
"I'm a little bit of everything," said Stone. "This album has a little bit of everything and a blues feeling song. It ought to hit everybody."
Stone said fans can expect a great show.
"They can expect to hear a lot of the old hits and some songs off the new CD," said Stone. "That's what they know me by."
And Stone like to see folks dance at his show.
"It makes me feel good," said Stone. "If people ain't
dancing, you're doing something wrong."
