L-N contest Week 3 results in Several near-misses gave way to three competitors in Week 3 of the Leader-News football contest. In one of the toughest weeks yet, 20 people missed only two games. In order to win this week, entrants could only miss one match. Even Chris Barbee and Kris Bagley of the Leader-News never had a shot at this. Barbee missed three games while Bagley missed two, but his answer for the tiebreaker was one of the lowest scores of the 20 2-game misses. This week came down to Donna Garcia, James Voldan and Ricky Aldridge. Each missed only one game. The winner was determined by Tiebreaker 1. The Houston Texans defeated the Carolina Panthers Sunday 34-21, leaving the total points scored at 55. Of all entrants, Voldin was the farthest away with a guess of 41. He claimed first last week and was trying for back-to-back wins, but still took third place and wins a check for $10. Second place went to Garcia with her guess of 43. She will be mailed a check for $15 for her entry. Aldridge earned the big prize this week, guessing 47 total points and will receive a $25 check and a $25 dine-in credit at Pizza Hut. Entry forms for the Week 4 of the football contest are available in today's sports page or online at www.leader-news.com. The contest is provided free of charge, thanks to all the sponsors on the contest page. |
