COURT REPORTS Alleged crimes ranging from driving while intoxicated to tampering with a government record will mean possible felony trials for several people following Wharton County Grand Jury deliberations this month. The grand jury handed down several indictments - a jury verdict that a prosecutor has enough evidence to proceed with felony charges. An indictment is not an indication of guilt. Those facing trial include: • Jarvis Juan Davis, 48, of 7 Serena Dr. in El Campo for driving while intoxicated. He allegedly drove drunk on March 5. Davis has two prior misdemeanor DWI convictions. • Anthony Dwayne Hunter, 45, of 22707 Carter Moir Lane in Katy for unlawful possession of a firearm. He allegedly had a firearm on Jan. 25 - in violation of regulations that he not have one for five years after his release from prison. Hunter was convicted of sexual assault. • David John Lewis, 42, of 3536 CR 61 in Robstown for DWI. He allegedly drove drunk on Jan. 29. Lewis has two prior misdemeanor DWI convictions and one at the felony level. • Ricky Longoria, 25, of 602 Hoskins Broadway in El Campo for tampering with physical evidence. He allegedly attempted to place a bag of marijuana into a cup of liquid to hide it on July 2. • Juan Romero Lujan, 35, of 1022 Lilly in El Campo for tampering with a governmental record. He allegedly illegally used a social security card on July 5. • Jose Arturo Mata, 28, of 612 Mulberry in Wharton for DWI. He allegedly drove drunk on July 13. Mata has two prior misdemeanor DWI convictions. |
