'Women of Faith' conference featuring former EC woman

Freedom is a topic often mentioned these days. Women of Faith, North America's largest women's conference, has made "Amazing Freedom" their theme for 2007.

This Christian organization is taking their message to 28 cities and expecting more than 400,000 women to attend.

Not only is freedom something people are rallying together for across the nation, it's something women search for every day in their personal lives.

Women today are busy with their job, kids and taking care of the home. Not only do women need time away from tasks, they need freedom emotionally as well. Women of Faith offers a place where there is freedom to laugh, to cry and relate as women.

"Our speakers share real stories of struggles and celebrating freedom in their own lives," said Mary Graham, president of Women of Faith.

One of the speakers is Luci Swindoll, formerly of El Campo. Swindoll, considered an accomplished woman, has worked as a corporate executive at Mobil Oil, sang with the Dallas Opera, and served as vice president of public relations at brother Chuck Swindoll's ministry, Insight for Living.

Plus, as an original Women of Faith speaker, she's spent the past 11 years inspiring women across North America.

This year, she has teamed up with long-time friend and neighbor Marilyn Meberg to write Free Inside and Out.

"Freedom," Luci says, "is what we all want. Christ has set me free so I can be free. I can live freely. I can think freely. It's such a huge gift and I don't take it lightly. It means the world to me!"

Women of Faith will be in Houston this weekend, Sept. 28-29 at the Toyota Center. To register go to www.womenoffaith. com/conferences/houston.

The conference doors open at 5:30 p.m., with opening at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, doors open at 8 a.m. followed by a full day of praise, worship and guest speakers.

Luci Swindoll will be one of the two speakers scheduled at 4 p.m., Saturday. The conference will conclude at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Women of Faith is a faithbased women's organization encouraging women of all ages and stages in life to grow in faith and spiritual maturity through a relationship with Jesus Christ and an understanding of God's love and grace.
