ECHS cross country girls do well at meet

El Campo cross country runners did well at a meet at Brookshire Royal Saturday morning.

ECHS's Angel Brooks placed second in the 2-mile varsity girls division from among 44 girls with a time of 12 minutes, 49 seconds, and Laura Echeverria placed third with a 13:13 to lead the Lady Ricebirds to a second place team finish with 47 points.

Sealy won the meet with 29 points.

Ricebird junior varsity girls did even better. Competing against 43 runners in the 2-mile event, Shelby May placed first with a time of 14:36.

Not far behind was Kaitlyn Cain, who placed second with a 15:10. And Ashley Brooks landed a sixth place with a time of 15:28.

The highest placing boy was junior varsity team member Michael Guajardo, who placed 10th with a 21:42. He competed against 45 runners over a three-mile course.
