LETTERS TO THE EDITOR This weekend we conducted the first annual Run Wild 5K Run/Walk and 1/2- mile Children's Event at the El Campo Museum. Wow! Did El Campo ever Run Wild! We were overwhelmed with the success of the event and as such would like to thank several groups and individuals. The El Campo Police Department was a tremendous help in planning our route and watching out for all of our runners both the young and the young at heart! Jerry Aulds was the voice of Run Wild and his commentary was an invaluable asset to our race! Cub Scout Pack 196 ran our water station with great enthusiasm and kept all of our runners hydrated. We would also like to thank our volunteers and sponsors, as our event would not have been possible without you! Most importantly we would like to thank the 70+ runners and walkers that "Ran Wild" through the streets of El Campo. Because of our generous sponsors and the many participants, Run Wild will enable the museum to create a hands-on learning experience - "Imagination Station" for children, refurbish the water fowl exhibit and facilitate the mounting of a bobcat. Thanks again for running wild with us and we hope to see everyone Run Wild again next year. Sandie Rod and Abby Goerig |
