ECISD seeking third round of bids on high school track

      A second round of bids to fix the track at Ricebird Stadium has been rejected, as the El Campo ISD board waits to have a look at a new, third set of bids. The board voted last month to delay a decision on the second round of bids it received Aug. 14 to renovate the stadium's track.

Arson fire destroys CR 418 bridge

      An unstoppable fire completely destroyed the CR 418 bridge over the Tres Palacios this week - a blaze investigators say was deliberately set. "It was incendiary meaning it was set on fire," State Fire Marshal Chris Janssen said Thursday, adding the case remains under investigation.

Search for missing polka DJ takes to air, nothing found

      The continuing search for the missing vehicle owned by Bobby Jones and believed to be at the bottom of the Colorado River took to the air on Thursday. During Thursday night's 100 Club Banquet, Wharton County Sheriff Jess Howell offered an update on the search for Jones' vehicle.
