Evans Park Rosary Rally honors vision In honor of Our Lady of Fatima, a "Rosary Rally" is being held at noon, Saturday, Oct. 13 in Evans Park in downtown El Campo. "America Needs Fatima" is the theme of the event, which should last about an hour. This marks the 90th anniversary when it is believed that the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three Portugal children delivering instructions for salvation. She appeared to them on the 13th day of each month. On October 13, 1917, the final in the series of the apparitions of 1917, a crowd believed to be approximately 70,000 in number. Our Lady of Fatima is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary by those who believe that she appeared to three shepherd children at Fatima, Portugal on the 13th day of six consecutive months in 1917, starting on 13 May. The title of Our Lady of the Rosary is also used in reference to the same apparition, because it is told that the apparition identified herself as "the Lady of the Rosary" to the children. As Our Lady of Fatima appeared to the children, she shared three secrets: visions of hell, how to save souls from hell and convert the world to the Catholic faith, and the vision of the death of the pope and other religious persons. She also asked the children to do penance and say the Rosary daily. |
