Wharton Co. youth attend dairy show

Five Wharton County youth gave up sleeping in on Saturday morning to hook up their trailers, load up their dairy cattle, and head up to the Fayette County Fair.

Kennedy Couvillion entered the Pee Wee Showmanship contest and came out of the arena with a blue ribbon and a bag full of goodies. Kory Couvillion (4-H Saddle Club) entered her 2006- 2007 WCYF Dairy Merit Heifer in the Junior Yearling Class and received 1st in class. Kyler Couvillion (4-H Saddle Club) entered his 2006-2007 WCYF Bucket Calf in the Summer Heifer Calf class and brought home 1st in class also.

With her 2007-2008 WCYF Dairy Merit Heifer, Brooke Wallace (Boling Jr. FFA) entered the Junior heifer class and received 1st in class. She also entered her Winter Yearling heifer and placed 3rd in class.

Kyler, Kory, and Brooke took their first in class animals back into the arena to compete for Junior Champion Heifer.

Clint George (4-H Saddle Club) entered with his Fall Heifer Calf and took 3rd in class. He also entered an animal in the Two Year Old Cow class taking 3rd place and another in the Aged Cow class taking 1st place. He then was able to take his Aged Cow and compete for Grand and Reserve Champion Senior Female. His Aged Cow won Reserve Champion Senior Cow.
