City Arrests Alcohol, drugs

El Campo police officers investigating heavy smoke in the Evans Park area early Sunday morning discovered a vehicle had struck a building in the 100 block of South Washington.

The pickup had extensive front end damage and a tire was still smoking when officers arrived and bystanders pointed out Pedro Ramiro Tello, 29, of 302 Higbee walking away from the scene. As officers tried to take him into custody, Tello reportedly struggled until pepper sprayed.

He was arrested at 1:16 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30 for resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated, no driver's license, no insurance and failure to report an accident. Tello was transported to the Wharton County Jail later that morning and held as of presstime in lieu of a $6,000 bond.

Larry Falcon, 45, of 409 Mayfield was arrested at 10:18 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 on charges of driving while intoxicated (third or or more offense), driving while license invalid or revoked and unrestrained child under the age of four after police were dispatched to the report of a threatened employee at a U.S. 59 business. Falcon was interviewed and police discovered he didn't have a license. Other charges followed. Falcon was transferred to the Wharton County jail the next morning and held in lieu of an $8,000 bond.

Rodolfo Portillo, 42, of 101 1/2 W. Church was arrested Friday, Sept. 28 at 7:48 p.m. on a warrant for open alcohol container in a motor vehicle. He paid the $346.75 fine and was released within an hour.

Israel Rocha Martinez Sr., 52, of 602 Armory Rd. was arrested Saturday, Sept. 29 at 8:53 p.m. for evading arrest with a vehicle, no motorcycle license, no insurance and excessive acceleration. A police officer reportedly spotted Martinez "accelerate excessively" and attempted to stop his motorcycle. Instead, Martinez allegedly fled at a high rate of speed and was arrested a short time later. He was transferred to the Wharton County Jail the next morning and released on $6,500 bond.

Jaime Lee Perry, 24, of 2500 Junior College Blvd. in Wharton was arrested Friday, Sept. 28 at 10:40 a.m. on a warrant for unattended child in a vehicle. She was released Saturday with credit for time served.

Francisco Javier Nino, 50, of 205 E. Church was arrested Saturday, Sept. 29 at 6:24 p.m. on a Fayette County Sheriff's Office warrant for probation violation as well as charges of no insurance and expired driver's license after being stopped for a traffic violation. He was transferred to the Wharton County Jail the next morning and held without bond.

Roxie Rene Wood, 24, of 1301 Wright was arrested Sunday, Sept. 30 at 7:53 a.m. on warrants for expired motor vehicle inspection certificate, no insurance and two counts of failure to appear. She posted a $584 bond and was released later that morning.

Eloisa Campos Hernandez, 44, of 1407 Pinchot was arrested Friday, Sept. 28 at 10:18 p.m. on warrants for no driver's license and no insurance as well as charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct - language and failure to identify after allegedly cursing several people during a disturbance. She was held as of press time.
