Information on arson warrants reward
Law enforcers are hoping someone will step up and accept a cash reward offered whoever can help track down those responsible for setting a CR 418 bridge on fire last week.
The flames Sept. 25 ultimately caused an estimated $200,000 damage - completely destroying the almost 100-foot span bridge over the Tres Palacios and making the roadway impassable for months.
The arson is a felony crime and is being investigated by the Texas State Fire Marshal's Office in conjunction with the Wharton County Sheriff's Department.
The West Wharton County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest and grand jury indictment in the case.
Investigating WCSO Sgt. Matt Machart says he's looking for anyone who may have seen something suspicious on CR 418 Tuesday, Sept. 25 around 9 to 10 p.m. or knows something about the crime.
If you have information, call Crime Stoppers at 543-TIPS or Sgt. Machart at the WCSO 543-1373 or 532-1550.
Callers do not have to give their names.
