Fall ushers in season
of holiday happenings
dollars reflect around agriculture in so many ways. Experts say that for every $1 spent it circulates in your community seven times. Just think if everyone were to buy everything in El Campo for one week, meaning not spending a dime outside Wharton County, how many more dollars would be kept at home. be kept at home. The Chamber Board has announced "Christmas Around the World" as the parade theme. The parade will be Thursday, Dec. 6. We will be sending out applications to members or you can come by the office to fill out release forms. We encourage all to participate and create your own float! Groups are $25 and Individuals are $10. Our annual Christmas Mall booth reservations are almost full, so if you are thinking about a booth now would be the time to book it. It will be here before you know it. We have around 1,800-2,000 people travel through the mall each year. Tickets are $2 for adults and $1 for children ages 3- 12. Tickets are good for entrance to the mall both days. Booths are $100, members are $75 and non-profits booths are $50. We all have noticed different activities at all ends of town. On the south side Dee Golden is opening a new landscape business across from Sunny Side. On the north side Hibbit Sporting Goods is being built on the corner across from Subway. On the corner next to the resale barn is a new shopping strip being built. We have not received confirmation as to what business will be locating there. As for business improvements, R&R Printing has recently remodeled the interior of their location on Monseratte and added new store front windows. Toledo Finance Company has opened up in the former Subway by Heavenly Helpers. The Chamber is taking donations to help with the planting of the wild flowers on the four overpasses. If you would like to help contribute a pound of seed, it is $15. It takes 35 pounds to plant an acre. We are looking forward to this project that will make such an improvement to our area. One event we are very excited to have back is the Carson and Barnes Circus on Sunday, Nov. 4. We know that is opening weekend of deer season, but most dads should be back, but if not that will be a great day to have with the kids at the circus. Performances that day are 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Theta Delta's Annual Pumpkin Patch is Saturday, Oct. 13 at Socha's Nursery on Showplace 3's lawn area. Tickets are $5. | |||||
