Rewards offered to help find burglars, vandals
By BRENDA SOMMER news1@leader-news.com

County law enforcers need the public's help to find thieves and vandals who have no respect for private property.

West Wharton County Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward for information on two separate cases that took place in mid-September outside El Campo.

In the first instance, burglars went to the home of Christopher Reckaway at 4370 FM 1162 on Sept. 18 and stole a John Deere lawnmower worth $1,785. The next day they returned, broke into the home and stole two amplifiers worth $250 and six firearms.

The second crime under investigation by the Wharton County Sheriff's Office took place at the Elks Lodge. During September, people repeatedly have gone to the lodge on Hwy. 71 North and thrown furniture and other items into the pool.

Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain completely anonymous. Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 543-8477 or WCSO Investigator Jason Mican at 543-1377.
