4-H County Council officers assume duties

At the recent 4-H Awards Banquet, the 2007-2008 Wharton County 4- H Council Officers were inducted. Elected in May by members of the Wharton County 4-H Council, the new officers are President-Alexis Cooper, 1st Vice-President-Laura Reyna, 2nd Vice President-Sara Lopez, 3rd Vice- President-Shelby Rod, Secretary- Hannah Krenek, Treasurer-Colleen Krenek, and Reporter-Brett Wallace.

County officers attended District Leadership Lab and District Academy during the summer where they learned leadership skills, team work, goal setting and discussed ideas with other District officers and adult leaders about ways to get more kids involved in 4-H. They worked on getting prizes for the Wharton County 4-H ticket fund-raiser.

All of the officers have already started planning for the 4-H Fun Day to be held at the Fairgrounds on Oct. 28 from 3-6 p.m. 4-H members are encouraged to come out and have a good time and are welcome to bring a friend.

Officers look forward to meeting the new Council members from each club Oct. 29 to discuss upcoming events, community service projects, and ways to promote 4-H.
