Lawrence & Agnes Labay have 50th wedding anniversary celebration

Lawrence and Agnes Labay celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 30, 2007 with Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nada followed by a reception and meal at the home of the couple.

Their children hosted the special occasion. The noon meal included fried chicken with lots of trimmings and a variety of desserts. A 50th anniversary cake with a photograph of the couple on top was served.

The afternoon was spent visiting with some of the original wedding party, family and close friends.

Children include Lawrence Labay Jr. of New Taiton, Eugene Labay of El Campo, Betty Supak of New Taiton, Andrew Labay of Louise, Linda Popp of Nada, Patrick Labay of Louise, Robert Labay of Cedar Park and Edwin Labay of Louise.

Lawrence Labay and Agnes Svatek were married Oct. 1, 1957 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nada. Msgr. Edmund J. Bily performed the ceremony.

The couple lived most of their lives in Nada. Lawrence is retired from Garwood Irrigation Company and Agnes is a retired housewife.
