Margaret Majure

Margaret Jean Majure, 90, of El Campo, died peacefully at home with members of her family present on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007.

She was born in Camden, N.Y. to Maurice and Marguerite Olmstead on Jan. 23, 1917, and graduated from Syracuse University in 1938. She was a life-long member Pi Beta Phi Sorority.

Mrs. Majure married William Lloyd Majure in 1939. After raising her family, she taught elementary school for many years in East Peoria, Ill. Jean and Bill moved to El Campo in 1974, where she was involved in the Garden Club, Sorosis Club and was a volunteer at El Campo Museum and Houston Hospice. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her four children: sons, Don Majure and wife Doris of El Campo and Jack Majure and wife Lynn of North Aurora, Ill.; daughter, Carol Lynne Majure of Denver, Susan Sager and husband Ed of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; sister, Carolyn Campbell of Marcellus, N.Y.; six grandchildren, and seven greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Lloyd Majure in 1993.

Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Gould officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Triska Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are grandsons Brian Majure, Alex Sager, Joshua Sager, son-in-law Ed Sager, grandson-in-law Doug Carlile and great-grandson Andrew Carlile.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Pre- School Fund.
