L-N Photo by Chris Barbee Flying High Ricebird senior receiver Larry Williams (14) goes high to grab a 7-yard pass from quarterback Tyler Woods early in the third quarter of last night's 34-7 homecoming win over Brazosport.
On the night that he was crowned homecoming king, Anthony Terrell had a performance worthy of his new title.

The Ricebird fullback ran for 201 yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries and anchored his team to a 34-7 win over the Brazosport Exporters Friday.

The 'Birds made the first score on their second possession of the game.

A 66-yard drive, including an 18- yard pass from Tyler Woods to Nathan Chapa, was finished off on a 37-yard touchdown run by Terrell. The extra point failed, but El Campo took a 6-0 lead.

Brazosport was held to a turnover on downs in their next possession and El Campo took advantage with another score.

This drive went 72 yards deep and was finished off with another Terrell touchdown, this one from 20 yards out. Gabe Lara connected for the extra point and El Campo led 13-0.

The Exporters' next possession only lasted three plays. On third down and six with the ball on their own 30-yard line, quarterback Melvin White completed a pass up the right sideline, but it soon changed hands.

Brazosport's receiver had the ball stripped away and Christopher Raun recovered the fumble for El Campo on the Exporters' 34-yard line.

The next play was Terrell's third score of the night. He took the handoff, ran up the middle and past several defenders for a 37-yard touchdown run. The extra point missed and El Campo's lead grew to 19-0, the eventual halftime score.

Brazosport came out as a changed team to start the second half. The Exporters prevented El Campo from driving deep and held the Ricebirds to a punt.

The Exporters next play went for six.

Quin Collins had a 59-yard touchdown run, and the following extra point cut El Campo's lead to 19-7 with 8:20 remaining in the third quarter.

The Ricebirds made two more scores in the fourth quarter before time ran out on the game.

Terrell was huge for the 'Birds once more. In their next scoring drive, the fullback touched the ball five out of eight plays, including the final punch into the end zone.

One of the key plays of the drive came on a nice pass play. Woods took the ball and ran back while rolling slightly left. He caught Larry Williams open for a pretty pass and a 20-yard gain to move to the 50.

Five plays later Terrell ran in from 13 yard out for the touchdown. Landon Appling ran the ball in for a 2-point conversion and gave El Campo a 27-7 lead.

The final score of the game came on the drive that left Brazosport with little time left on the clock.

The Ricebirds started with 6:21 left in the fourth quarter. A few quarterback sneaks by Woods set up a great play by tailback Maverick Smith.

With the ball on the Brazosport 48-yard line, Smith showed a nice burst of speed for a 28yard run that set up the final scoring play.

Appling, in for the first time as quarterback, ran a keeper play to the left and saw a lot of open field. He blew by the Exporters for a 20-yard touchdown. Lara connected for the extra point and El Campo's lead grew to 34-7.

Brazosport drove against the Ricebirds as time ran out in the fourth quarter and threatened to score on a few deep passing plays.

If not for the defensive play of J.R. Harris, the score would certainly have been different. The Ricebird defensive back deflected three passes near the end zone to give the ball back to El Campo with 1:10 left on the clock.

Quarterback Cody Brandl came in to finish out the game by running out the clock for the final 34-7 homecoming win.
