EC Seventh grade takes on Lamar

El Campo Middle School's seventh-grade football teams faced Lamar last week and played solid games. The Red team was the only one to get a win, while the White and Gray teams held on for ties.

7th Grade Red

El Campo's offense clicked while the defense earned a shutout to come away with a 14-0 win.

El Campo's two touchdowns both came in the second quarter.

B.J. Flagg made the first on a 4-yard touchdown and Marvin Shimek kicked the extra point to give El Campo an 8-0 lead.

Jeff Fiala made the last score on a 4-yard touchdown run. The Ricebird defense held Lamar scoreless for the remainder of the game and El Campo earned a 14-0 win.

Timothy Delgado led the team with 7 tackles while Fiala and Jack Davis both had 6 and Travis Woods had 5 tackles.

The Red team moved to 3-1 after the win.

7th Grade White

El Campo and Lamar were evenly matched on the field and ended the match with a 0-0 tie.

In the game, Kris Stevenson completed a 10-yard pass to Colton Martin and Jeremy Supak ran for 43 yards.

Justin Haller led the defense with 5 tackles while Martin made 4 tackles on the night.

7th Grade Gray

Both the Ricebirds and Ponies played great defense throughout the game and finished with a 0-0 tie.

Offensively, Brandon Shimek led El Campo with 38 rushing yards.

Shimek also made a teamhigh 7 tackles while Colton Parson and Blayne Allgayer both made 4 tackles. Kade Ilse picked off 1 pass for an interception.
