COURT REPORTS Alleged drunken driving, burglary and vandalism are among the reasons several Wharton County residents will be facing felony trial soon. A grand jury indictment is not an indication of guilt, but rather a citizen judgment allowing a prosecutor to proceed with felony charges. Those indicted during late September Wharton County Grand Jury deliberations include: • Jerome Lee Hawkins, 21, of 3102 FM 640 in Spanish Camp for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. He allegedly had between four and 200 grams of cocaine on Feb. 13. • Refugio Mendoza Hernandez, 25, of 218 N. Yale in Garland for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest or detention. He alleg- edly stole an automobile on Aug. 10 and used it to flee from a Department of Public Safety trooper. • C. Dell Hodge Jr., 57, of 605 W. Warren in Kingsville for driving while intoxicated. He allegedly drove drunk on June 30 and has two prior misdemeanor DWI convictions. • Carolyn Denise Hudlin, 48, of 1255 U.S. 59 loop in Wharton for robbery and possession of a controlled substance. She allegedly scratched a man while attempting to steal from him on June 20 while in possession. Hudlin has three prior felony convictions for theft, one for forgery and one for failure to appear - enhanced. • Hubert Wayne Kemper, 50, of Rt. 1, Box 53 on CR 243 in Wharton for burglary of a habitation, unlawful possession of a firearm and theft. He allegedly broke into a home on Jan. 6 stealing firearms, DVD and VCR tapes, a camera, deep fryer, burner and jacket. On the same day, Kemper is accused of illegally having a fire arm in his possession. He has a prior felony conviction for passing forged checks. • Kevin Michael Lee, 18, of 1323 N. Fulton in Wharton for burglary of a habitation. He allegedly broke into a home Aug. 19 stealing piggy banks containing change, a checkbook and ring. • Brandon Matula, 26, of 4621 Woolridge in Corpus Christi for possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and money laundering. He allegedly had more than 50 pounds of marijuana and less than one gram of cocaine on Jan. 22. On the same day, Matula stands accused of having more than $1,500 in cash obtained through drug trafficking. • Frank Mendiola Jr., 20, of 617 Washington in Wharton for burglary of a building. He allegedly broke into a Wharton restaurant to steal cash on June 10. • Brenda Ann Moreno, 46, of 408 E. Watt in El Campo for driving while intoxicated. She allegedly drove drunk on June 24 and has two prior misdemeanor DWI convictions. • Michael Moreno, 21, of 609 N. Rusk in Wharton for criminal mischief. He allegedly attacked a pickup breaking the windows and windshield, headlamps and tail lights as well as damaging the hood and the interior dash board on June 15. Total damage was in excess of $1,500. • Stuart Obrian Nichols, 33, of 1743 FM 2614 in Eagle Lake for evading arrest or detention. He allegedly used a vehicle to flee from three Wharton County Sheriff's deputies on July 8. • Porfirio Nunez, 27, of 502 August in El Campo for two counts of driving while intoxicated with a child passenger. He allegedly drove drunk May 26 with a child under the age of 15 in the vehicle. • Rocky Ramirez Perez, 36, of 810 Hayden in El Campo for driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly drove drunk on July 19 and had less than one gram of cocaine with him. Perez has two prior misdemeanor DWI convictions. • Joseph Spencer Puente, age and address unknown, for three counts of failure to register as a sex offender. With a prior conviction of indecency with a child by sexual contact, he allegedly moved and didn't report his change of address or change his driver's license. Puente also has a prior felony conviction for theft. • Jeremy Rawls, 26, of 9898 Club Creek in Houston for possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had 1 to 4 grams of methylenedioxy methamphetamine on March 22, 2006. Rawls has a prior felony conviction for aggravated robbery. • Jeffery Alan Richie, 49, of 108 Olive in El Campo for possession of a controlled substance and the intent to deliver it. He allegedly had 4 to 200 grams of cocaine on June 19. Richie has prior felony convictions for burglary - entering and committing theft; burglary and possession of a controlled substance. • Roland Dewayne Sanchez, 21, of 322 W. Railroad in Boling for indecency with a child. The incident allegedly involve a girl under the age of 17 on Aug. 8. • Brian Sepulbeda, 27, of 1507 Ave. C in El Campo for driving while intoxicated. He allegedly drove drunk on July 28 and has two prior misdemeanor DWI convictions. • Garrett Michael Vera, 21, of 205 N. Orange in Louise for possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had less than one gram of cocaine on June 1. |
