Living Rosary service concucted by Nada CDA

Members of Court Our Lady of the Rosary No. 1595 met Tuesday evening at St. Mary's Parish Hall.

Prior to the meeting parishioners met at St. Mary's Catholic Church for a "Living Rosary" to show respect for life from conception until natural death. Father Joe Vrana led the Rosary.

Living Rosary Chairwoman Betty Leopold served as coordinator for the recitation of the joyful mysteries of the Rosary assisted by Janie Mae Popp. As each decade of the Rosary was recited, altar server Ryan Korenek lit a candle held by each parishioner. Also participating was Father Anthony Boateng-Mensah.

Following the "Living Rosary" service, Regent Anita Meismer welcomed Fathers Vrana and Boateng-Mensah, District 37 Deputy Darice Miksch of Columbus, guests Dorothy Hoffman, Vivian Spanihel and CDA members to the meeting which was opened with a prayer led by Father Vrana, and pledge to the U.S. and Texas flags. Vice Regent Bernita Korenek led members in the opening ode.

After reports from committee chairmen were heard, Vivian Spanihel gave a presentation on the ground water district election to be held Nov. 6.

A special report from the standing rules committee was heard and revisions will be voted on at the November meeting.

Members voted to send a memorial donation to the Diocesan Burse of Father Joe Kobel who served as pastor of St. Mary's for many years.

Members attending received yearbooks prepared by Mary Mahalitc. A financial audit was held and revealed the organization is in financial good standing. Audit committee members are Bernice Kallina, Pat Wobbe and Janet Mahalitc.

Following the meeting, Bernita Korenek, hostess chairwoman, was assisted by Grace Korenek, Kelly Korenek, Bernice Kallina, Sally Kallina, Anna Lou Kasmiersky, Evelyn Korenek, Leona Korenek and Jane Korenek in serving chicken spaghetti, green salad, Jello pineapple salad, garlic bread, punch and coffee. The Halloween theme was carried out and fall floral arrangements were placed throughout the meeting room by Grace Korenek.

The meeting concluded with a prayer and blessing by Father Vrana.

The next meeting will be Nov. 13 when a Memorial Mass will be celebrated for all deceased members of Court Our Lady of the Rosary No. 1595, Nada.
