EL CAMPO MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL UPDATE

El Campo Middle School's volleyball teams faced George Junior High Oct. 4 and each team came away with a win.

8th Grade Red

The Lady 'Birds swept George in two games. El Campo earned an easy win in game one, 25-9 and held off a surging George team 26-24 in game two for the win.

Megan Calhoun led El Campo in scoring with 10 points while Sarah Supak scored 6, Breana Johnson scored 5, Meredith Jeane and Shavonne Shorter both scored 4 points, Kaleigh Montalvo scored 3, Ja'vonna George scored 2 and Chelsea Salyer scored 1 point.

8th Grade White

El Campo came away with a clutch win after falling behind in their first game. George defeated the Lady 'Birds 25-22 to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The Lady 'Birds responded with wins of 25-15 and 25-17 in the next two games to claim the match 2-1.

Marilyn Almanzar scored a teamhigh 12 points while Jenny Johnson and Brook Staff both scored 8, Graciela Trejo scored 5, Aubrey Garcia and Andrea Gaona both scored 4 and Sha Cora Williams scored 3 points.

7th Grade Red

The Lady 'Birds topped George 2-0. El Campo claimed a tough win 26-24 and came back with an easy victory 25- 6 to sweep George.

Tyann Rheinschmidt led the Lady 'Birds with 12 points. Laroysha Robinson, Khadijah Martin and Ebonee Robinson each scored 6 points and Katie Weisner scored 5 points.

7th Grade White

El Campo took only two games to defeat George. The Lady 'Birds claimed game one 25-21 and game two 25-17 for the sweep.

Carlee Skinner led the Lady 'Birds with 7 points while Angel Saldana, Selena Delepuna and Lazara Miranda each scored 6 and Jenna Ortiz and Shelby Weisner both scored 5 points.
