Auction raises gift of money for Valerie Murphy & Jason Garcia

A bachelor-bachelorette party honoring Valerie Murphy and Jason Garcia was held Saturday afternoon at the Brackenridge Park pavilion overlooking Lake Texana near Edna. Family members hosted the special occasion that included a fall theme with table coverings, scarecrows and citronella candles.

Supper consisted of fried chicken, buttered red potatoes, pinto beans and iced tea with an assortment of desserts.

Special guests were Chris and Linda Garcia, parents of the future groom; Dee Hunt, mother of the bride-to-be; Vanessa Murphy, sister of the brideto be; Bob and Janey Mouret, future groom's godparents; Elvis Garcia and family and Tim Garcia and family, brothers of the future groom.

An auction was held with George Yackel as auctioneer. The money was presented to the couple as a gift. They also played games for entertainment.

Valerie and Jason will be married Nov. 17, 2007.
