El Campo Casual Quilters quilt guild donated this colorful quilt to El Campo Hospice Monday. Hospice plans to use the quilt as a fund-raiser item.
"One of the main purposes of El Campo Casual Quilters is to make quilts for charity," said member Carolyn Kelly.
"This year we chose Hospice El Campo as the recipient of our large quilt. Along with the large quilt, one of the requirements of our members is that each of us makes one lap size quilt a year that will also be donated to charity. This year we donated more than 20 of those small quilts to Children's Protective Services."
The Hospice quilt is a very large queen size in a beautiful array of jewel toned colors. Every other block in the quilt is a star block with a rosecolored heart appliquéd in the center.
"With the heart being a symbol of love, it was an easy choice for a quilt for Hospice," she said. "Hospice volunteers definitely have the most loving and caring hearts. The quilt was made by us but was machine quilted by Faye Morgan who did an excellent job."
El Campo Casual Quilters meet on the first Wednesday of each month. New members are always welcome.
Membership is composed of all skill levels from beginners to the very experienced.
"We are constantly learning new methods and techniques," said Kelly.
