EC ladies lose in 3 at Terry

The Lady 'Birds fell Friday in Rosenberg to Terry and officially were eliminated from volleyball playoff contention.

El Campo needed the win to keep any hopes alive for the post season, but the Lady Rangers took the match in three games.

Terry claimed the first game 26-24 despite an amazing performance by Kristi Michaelsen. She led El Campo with 9 serving points, including 2 aces, in the loss.

After falling in game one, the Lady 'Birds had difficulty staying close in the last two games.

Ashley Zboril stepped up with great play in game two and made 6 kills for El Campo. Terry came through with a 25-17 win even with her great play.

It was Alexis Cooper who had the big game for the Lady 'Birds in game three. She covered the floor and dug up 4 balls, but Terry still managed a 25-14 win to take the match 3-0.

Zboril led the Lady 'Birds with a total of 11 kills while Meredith Bard made 5, Ashley Brooks made 3, and Kaylan Gangl, Kelsey Gangl and Shelby Cooper each made 2 kills.

Michaelsen led all servers with 11 points. Zboril scored 9 points, Stephanie Korenek and Kelsey Gangl both scored 8 and Kaylan Gangl scored 4 points.

Of all El Campo's servers, Michaelsen served up the most aces with 2 while Zboril, Korenek and Kelsey Gangl each had 1 ace.

Bard led the defense with a 12 digs. Cooper had 4 digs, Zboril had 3, Kelsey Gangl had 2 and Brooks, Korenek and Kaylan Gangl each had 1 dig.

Bard also led El Campo's defense at the net with 5 blocks while Kaylan Gangl had 2.

El Campo hosted Lamar Consolidated late Tuesday night and will host Bay City Friday to end the season.
