Three individuals from Wharton County were recognized with the highest honor a senior member can receive in the 4-H program at the District 11 Gold Star banquet Oct. 6 in Victoria. Shelby Cooper of El Campo, and Hannah Krenek and Laura Reyna of Wharton are the recipients.
These three young ladies from Wharton County have participated in many different 4-H events. These include involvement in the food and fashion shows, Wharton County Youth Fair and major livestock shows.
They have also held many leadership positions at the local, county and district levels.
The Gold Star award dates back to 1933 when the first award was given to youth members who were recognized for their hard work and efforts in 4-H.
