Alfons Kaluza Alfons V. Kaluza, 86, of El Campo, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007 in Houston. He was born on Feb. 14, 1921 in Weimer to Peter and Agnes Sugarek Kaluza. Mr. Kaluza was a farmer, rancher and had been employed for over 20 years by the Texas Highway Department. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 251. Survivors include his wife, Annie Jedlicka Kaluza of El Campo; daughter, Sandra Kaluza of Houston; son, Ronnie Kaluza and wife Linda of El Campo; sister, Tillie Smaistrla of El Campo; and brother, Edwin Kaluza of El Campo; grandsons, Bradley and Justin Kaluza; and great-grandchildren, Donovan Lee and Lily Ann Marie. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marcella Mackinen and Lydia Siems; and brothers, Fred and Willie Kaluza. A Parish Wake service was held Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 251 followed at Holy Cross Memorial Park. Pallbearers were James Jedlicka, Vencil Jedlicka, Jimmy Jedlicka, Glen Kaluza, Gary Kaluza and David Kaluza. Honorary pallbearers were Bradley Kaluza, Justin Kaluza, Lily Ann Marie Kaluza, Donovan Blaylock, Linda Majecek and Rosalinda Marek. Memorials in memory of Alfons V. Kaluza may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association. |
