Hornets fall in last seconds
By KRIS BAGLEY sports@leader-news.com

An excellent game by the Hornets went the wrong way in the last few seconds and turned into a late loss.

Louise traveled to Falls City last night to take on the Beavers and fell 33-29 despite a great overall effort.

The Hornets scored first on a run by Antwon Parson. The running back broke free for a 50-yard touchdown and Cory Hajovsky kicked the extra point to put Louise ahead 7-0 with 9:54 left in the first quarter.

Falls City answered quickly and tied the game.

In a little over 2 minutes, the Beavers ran into Louise territory and escaped with a 12-yard touchdown run. The extra point tied the game at 7-7 with 7:08 remaining in the first quarter.

Another score by Falls City put the Beavers ahead.

With 11:06 remaining in the second quarter, the Beavers came through with an 11-yard touchdown run, but missed the extra point. Falls City took a 13-7 lead with the play.

Louise was not behind for long. Parson struck again, this time from even further out.

The blazing fast Hornet burned past the Beaver tacklers for an 85-yard touchdown run. Hajovsky's extra point was good and Louise took a 14-13 lead.

A blocked punt by Louise's P.J. Polk with around 3 minutes left in the half went for a safety and gave the Hornets a 16-13 lead at halftime.

The Hornets struck again in the third quarter.

With 2:18 to go in the quarter, Louise's primary rusher got in on the scoring. Fullback Kyle Lawson broke free for a 64-yard touchdown run. Ha- jovsky's extra point was good and the Hornets' lead grew to 23-13.

Falls City scored early in the fourth quarter on a 3-yard run to cut the lead to 23-20, but Lawson ran for another touchdown in response.

The fullback made a 46-yard run for a touchdown while the extra point missed and the Hornets extended their lead to 29-20.
