COURT REPORTS

Drug possession and theft were among the crimes several Wharton County residents will have to defend against following October grand jury deliberations.

And while a grand jury indictment is not an indication of guilt, it is a citizen jury verdict that a prosecutor has enough evidence against a person to proceed with felony charges.

Those facing felony trial include:

• Jose Martinez Jr., 62, of 717 Main in East Bernard for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He allegedly used a shotgun to threaten two people on July 7.

• Lenin Olvera, 37, of 20511 Cocoplum in Katy for theft. He allegedly stole more than $1,500 in sod from a grass farm on Sept. 5.

• Mary Salinas Orocio, 29, of 206 Sonata Court in El Campo for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. She allegedly stole an automobile on June 15.

• Manuel Polina, 19, of 514 Sunset in Wharton for possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had less than one gram of cocaine on March 20.

• Javier Ramirez, 34, of 7179 CR 225 in East Bernard for theft. He allegedly stole more than $1,500 in concrete on Sept. 1, 2004.

• Floria Roberts, 49, of 6315 Rue Sophie in San Antonio for theft. She allegedly stole more than $1,500 in merchandise from two turf farms between Aug. 31, 2004 through Dec. 5, 2005.

• Angel Rodriguez, 29, of 510 S. Washington in El Campo for engaging in organized criminal activity and theft. He allegedly stole more than $1,500 in building materials on June 11 while in collaboration with others.

• Francisco Rodriguez, 29, of 510 S. Washington in El Campo for engaging in organized criminal activity and theft. He allegedly stole more than $1,500 in building materials on June 11 while in collaboration with others.

• Raymond Allen Rodriguez Jr., 34, of 824 Betty in El Campo for possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had less than one gram of cocaine on June 15.

• Joe Salazar, 65, of 501 S. Wharton in El Campo for indecency. The alleged incident reportedly involved a girl under the age of 17 on March 18, 2004.
