Charlie Fucik

Charlie Edward Fucik, 85, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007.

He served in the United States Army 391st Infantry, Company F during WWII in the Pacific Theater. After discharge from the Army he served for seven years with the 136th Tank Battalion in the US Army National Guard. Charlie worked for Buffalo/Summers Electric for 35 years as an Electrical Salesman.

He was a member of the El Campo Knights of Columbus and served as Eucharistic minister at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Charlie enjoyed gardening, camping, polka music, dominoes and spending time with his family. He was loved by all and will be missed greatly.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn. Charlie leaves behind his five sons, Brother Charles CSSR, Kenneth and wife Linda, Richard and wife LaJuana, Donald and wife Kathleen, and James. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, his brother Felix and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Vaclav and Mary Fucik; son, Glen Ray; and brothers, John, Jim and Tony.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, 10th floor Cancer Center, ICU, and Houston Hospice for their great care and love they showed to him during his time there.

A Rosary was held Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at Earthman Bellaire Chapel, 6700 Ferris St., Bellaire, Texas. The Mass of the Resurrection was held Friday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood, Houston. Rite of Committal followed at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Memorial Park Cemetery in El Campo. The family has requested donations be made in Charlie's honor to the Houston Hospice, Holy Ghost Church or your favorite charity.
