The Lady 'Birds showed their pride and determination Friday in sweeping Bay City for their last match of the season.

On the night Head Coach Diana Matula recognized her seniors for their great play this season, the Lady 'Birds ended the year with a 3-0 sweep over the Lady Blackcats.

El Campo took an early 5-0 lead in the first game before Bay City could score a point. The Lady Blackcats rallied to outscore the Lady 'Birds 9-5 and cut El Campo's lead to 10-9 before the Lady 'Birds started to pull away again.

A few shots from El Campo, including an attack away from the net by Alexis Cooper moved the score to 14-12. Meredith Bard followed the hit with an ace and gave El Campo a 15-12 lead.

El Campo outscored Bay City 9-3 to move ahead 24-15 and come close to sealing the win. A few great rallies by the Lady Blackcats brought Bay City closer, but El Campo came through with the last point.

Bard showed her power at the net with a big kill to finish the game with a 25-19 win.

Game two started with a couple of big hits from Bay City and the Lady 'Cats had an early 4-1 lead. El Campo rallied back to take the lead at 7-6 and held it until Bay City tied the game at 13-13.

The series for the next point and the lead was a long one. Bay City attacked hard and El Campo made several great digs to end the rally on a monster kill by Bard. After making the shot to give El Campo the lead, Bard came up to serve and helped the Lady 'Birds move ahead 16-13.

The Lady 'Cats took control of the game once again, but El Campo soon came up to serve. This time it was Kelsey Gangl who led the Lady 'Birds as server.

Gangl's first serve gave Bay City no chance at a return and went for an ace immediately to move the score to 18-14. Later, Shelby Cooper made a big hit at the net to keep El Campo in the lead 20-14.

The Lady 'Birds scored one more point under Gangl's serves before Bay City scored again to cut the lead to 21-15.

El Campo took control again on a nice kill by Ashley Zboril to put her team up 23-15. A block by Bard and a kill by Kaylan Gangl put the score at 24-15 and only one point away.

Bay City scored one more point before delivering the win to El Campo on a serve that sailed out of bounds. The Lady 'Birds won 25-16.

The third game was El Campo's most dominating performance of the night.

Aided by great play from Bard, Zboril and both Gangls, the Lady 'Birds cruised to a 10-3 lead early in the game. El Campo only allowed 6 more points to the Lady 'Cats and left the court victoriously for the last time this year on a 25-9 win.
