Stories Of The Past
Adding A Personal Twist
In compiling personal stories of the past, Jerry Aulds and wife Dayle look over some interesting accounts from local people and those who grew up in the El Campo area. These stories will be included in a book sponsored by the Lifesavers Relay for Life team. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. In addition to these stories, Jerry is including several columns he has written for the El Campo Leader-News over the past three decades. Dayle, who is one of the volunteers for this project, has agreed to assist in typing the stories. Stories should preferably be from people who grew up in the El Campo area or from those who currently live here. They do not have to be about El Campo, but should include past experiences of people, places and events that were significant to the writer. Stories may be submitted by filling out a form available at El Campo Memorial Hospital or by e-mailing Donna Mikeska @ dmikeska@ecmh.org. The form may be dropped off at the hospital, e-mailed or faxed to Mikeska's attention to 979-543-8420. Suggested topics, but not limited to these subjects, could be about living during a time when there was no plumbing and electricity, raising farm animals, early school days, farming, new technology, health care, games and other entertainment, music, old politics, times of war, shopping and automobiles.
