Communities honor seniors 80 years & older Citizens of the Nada/Garwood communities who are 80 years and older were honored with a social and luncheon Saturday at the Lehrer Memorial United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Nada-Garwood Gadabouts sponsor this yearly event in observance of national "Make a Difference Day." President Anita Meismer welcomed and thanked the 33 guests for attending and read "Life Begins at Eighty." She then introduced Vivian Spanihel and Betty Schiurring who delivered some important information on the proposed Ground Water Conservation District which will be on the Nov. 6 election ballot. Following the presentation a question and answer period followed. After the meal door prizes donated by Pauline Solomon and Anita Meismer were distributed by Helen Noteboom and Catherine Berger. All attending received trick or treat bag favors. In closing Meismer thanked the Gadabout members for helping to honor the 80-year and over group. She also thanked member Clara Gold for the fall floral arrangements she made and placed throughout the room. It was announced that "Make a Difference Day" would be celebrated again in October 2008. |
