Police Blotter City Arrests Alcohol, drugs Douglas Marvin Thane, 52, of 1908 Wayne was arrested at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 on charges of obstruction or retaliation, possession of less than 2 grams of a controlled substance (hydrocodone), driving while intoxicated second offense with open container, driving while license invalid or revoked, no insurance and open alcohol container in a motor vehicle, four warrants for issuance of a bad check, two warrants for public intoxication and a warrant for theft of service under $20. The ECPD charges were dismissed due to medical reasons, according to jail records. Rogelio Cantu III, 30, of Edinburg was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 on a charge of driving while intoxicated. He was transferred to Wharton County Jail the same day. Richard Lewis Whitley, 23, of 1805 Willow Bend in Wharton was arrested at 11:37 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 on a charge of driving while intoxicated with an open container. He remained in custody at presstime. Property Leslie Lyn Wallace, 37, of 711 Grace was arrested at 10:18 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 on a warrant for issuance of a bad check after being stopped for a traffic violation. She was released the same day after paying a $340 fine. Other Guadalupe Garcia Jr., 40, of 101 Becky was arrested at 11:12 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 on warrants for criminal trespass at a habitation/shelter center, failure to appear, no seat belt and assault threatening bodily injury and two warrants for no insurance. He was held on $2,500 bond as of 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1. Oscar Terrazas Jr., 23, of HC 64, Box 10E in El Campo was arrested at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 on Wharton County warrants for bond forfeiture - DWI and bond forfeiture - possession of marijuana, warrants for littering and public intoxication and two warrants for open alcohol container in a motor vehicle. He was held on $5,000 bond as of 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1. Elvira Deases Mata, 41, of 202 W. Norris was arrested at 12:49 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 on a Wharton County warrant for bond forfeiture and charges of no white light on bicycle and no bicycle registration. She was held on $2,500 bond as of 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1. Rebeca Cardoza Garcia, 40, of 910 Flax was arrested at 6:47 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 on charges of no insurance and driving while license suspended and warrants for failure to appear and no insurance. She remained in custody at presstime. Public intoxication: 1. County Incidents Property Tom Welfel reported burglary of a building at 1402 Flora in El Campo between Aug. 15 and Aug. 30. Burglars took 10 hot water heaters valued at $1,500. Gregory Leopold reported burglary of a home at 367 CR 353 in El Campo between Oct. 24 and Oct. 26. Burglars took three televisions worth $1,050, tools worth $150, beverages worth $144 and a John Deere riding mower worth $2,484. Jail population as of 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 was 134 prisoners.
