EC Hermann Sons Lodge raises more than $3,000 for scholarships

El Campo Hermann Sons Lodge officers held a brief meeting Thursday to discuss results of the annual fall festival and other pertinent business for the lodge.

The lodge held their annual fall festival Saturday, Oct. 27 at Alamo Park. A lunch of fried chicken, pinto beans, potato salad, three-bean salad, bread, tea and desserts was served.

Several door prizes were won by members and guests. Proceeds of the festival will be used for scholarships. This year $3,642 was raised for the scholarship fund. Members and guests enjoyed the afternoon visiting at the park. Local businesses donated prizes for the drawing and for the door prizes.

The local lodge will host the district officer installation in January 2008 at the Civic Center's Duson Room. Invitations are being sent to other lodges in the district. Local officers need to RSVP by Dec. 15 to Cindy Witcher at 543-3426.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m. Members are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to serve with turkey and dressing. Call Witcher to RSVP for this meeting.
