Bill Humphrey Sr.
He was born Jan. 11, 1926 to William N. and Freddie Mae Evetts Humphrey. Humphrey was retired from the banking business after 39 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and received a BBA from Hardin- Simmons in 1949. Humphrey was past president of the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and the Little League Association in El Campo. He was also a member of the El Campo Rotary Club and was responsible for founding Little Leagues in New Mexico, Post and El Campo. Survivors include his wife, Helen Engle Humphrey of Fair Oaks; daughter, Diana Humphrey of Fair Oaks; sons, Bill Humphrey Jr. of Fort Worth and John Humphrey of Fair Oaks; and three grandchildren, Shelby Humphrey, Austin Humphrey and Bradley Stehno. Visitation will begin today, Saturday, Nov. 3 at noon with family receiving friends from 4- 6 p.m. at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in El Campo, with the Rev. Rick DuBroc officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Triska Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 206 Depot, El Campo, TX 77437. Pallbearers will be Austin Humphrey, Bradley Stehno, Charles Engle, Jack Hays, Phil Zlotnik, Dr. Ron Goelzer, Bob Harrell, Jim Bouligny and Dean Henninger. Honorary pallbearer is Mose Gray. |
